Founder's Housing Story

At Resilient Impact Ministries, our mission is deeply personal — born and raised in St.Louis, Missouri from real experience, faith, and an unwavering desire to help others find stability and hope.

Growing up, I had little family support to lean on. After graduating high school, I faced the world with no real direction or preparation. I knew I wanted more for myself — I had dreams of going to college, but I also needed a practical, immediate plan to build a future I could stand on.

At just 17 years old, I left my mother's home, stepping into the unknown without a solid plan but with complete trust that God would guide me. And He did — at 18, I was blessed to be approved for my very first apartment, a major milestone in building my independence.

At 19 years old, another major door opened: I was hired on the spot after my interview with CitiBank/CitiMortgage in 1997, beginning my career as a Mortgage Debt Counselor. This opportunity changed the trajectory of my life. Shortly after, I purchased my very first home — a real estate property bought at a great deal with plenty of equity. It was during my time at CitiMortgage that I first became immersed in the world of real estate, learning about mortgages, debt solutions, and the pre-foreclosure process. I later expanded my knowledge by working at title companies as a Closing Assistant, gaining deep insight into real estate transactions and closings.

While working in the mortgage industry, I also took a bold step toward securing my future: I enrolled in a Medical Billing and Coding program as a backup plan, understanding the importance of having multiple skills to rely on. In 2005, I proudly graduated, earning my certification in Medical Billing and Coding.

This hands-on experience in real estate — combined with my additional training in healthcare — strengthened my resilience and broadened my ability to pivot when needed. I eventually began a career fixing and flipping properties, finding joy in restoring homes and creating new beginnings for families.

However, life wasn't without challenges. When the 2008 housing market crash hit, I, like so many others, was laid off. With no strong safety net, I found myself at a crossroads — and it was during this season of uncertainty that my personal relationship with God became even stronger.

Leaning on my faith, I pivoted into healthcare, humbly accepting a lower-paying job to rebuild my stability. Though it wasn’t easy, I persevered — determined to stand on faith and resilience rather than fear.

Today, we are once again facing uncertain economic times: rising inflation, wages that no longer match the cost of living, and countless people struggling just to stay afloat. I see the need now more clearly than ever — because I have lived it.

This is why I founded Resilient Impact Ministries.

At Resilient Impact Ministries, we are committed to developing affordable housing solutions, shared adult living communities, and providing the tools and resources that empower individuals to rebuild, restart, and reclaim their futures.

We are not just building houses — we are building opportunity. We are building community. We are building resilience. As the Sr. Director of Housing Development, I am passionate about leveraging all the knowledge I've gained — from my early experiences in mortgages and real estate investment, to my training in healthcare — to create real solutions for people who need it most. Because everyone deserves a 2nd chance.
